What does an Architect do?
An architect is an individual who designs and builds structures and buildings for a living. The job of an architect entails him/her to design and build the basic structure of a building such as the interior and/or exterior space, parapets, roof structure, ventilation, windows, etc. The purpose of an architect is to create a building that can meet its intended purpose, be functional, pleasing to the eye, safe, and economical. The main aim of an architect is to satisfy the needs of their clients by designing buildings that are attractive, functional, and durable.

There are many fields and aspects of architecture to choose from. Architects play a significant role in planning, designing, and constructing buildings. Architects are also responsible for making sure that the property they are working on is both safe and functional for its intended purpose. It is thus important that individuals who wish to become architects learn all they can about all the different types of architectural careers and study, and acquire as much relevant experience and training as possible. For those individuals who already have an architectural career, it is important that they continue to educate themselves so that they can continually help future architects grow and develop their skills and talents. Some of the different career fields include mechanical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, and plumbing, while architecture is a field that usually combines several of these other areas and focuses on the beautification of buildings, neighborhoods, towns, and countries.

In order to become one, an individual must first complete a degree program at an accredited university or college, pass an exam, and then hold an adequate license to practice in that state. In order to get an architectural design professional license, an individual must successfully complete either an associate's or bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university, pass a state-approved test, and then successfully complete a certified professional development workshop. In order to become licensed, an architect must complete a three-year post-graduate residency at an approved architectural school that holds adequate accreditation. Aspiring architects may obtain their first license by working under an expert architect who has been professionally trained and is in excellent standing.
